What makes a Mother

I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today.
I asked what makes a Mother
And I know I heard him say.
A Mother has a baby
This we know is true.'


But God, can you be a Mother
When your baby's not with you?
Yes, you can, He replied
With confidence in His voice
I give many women babies
When they leave is not their choice.
Some I send for a lifetime
And others for a day.
And some I send to feel your womb
But there's no need to stay.


I just don't understand this, God
I want my baby here
He took a breath and cleared His throat
And then I saw a tear.
I wish I could show you
What your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile
With other children and say:
"We go to earth to learn our lessons
Of love and life and fear.


My Mommy loved me oh so much
I got to come straight here.
I feel so lucky to have a Mom
Who had so much love for me
I learned my lesson very quickly
My Mommy set me free.
I miss my Mommy oh so much
But I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep
On her pillow's where I lay.
I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
And whisper in her ear.
"Mommy don't be sad today
I'm your baby and I'm here."


So you see my dear sweet one
Your children are ok
Your babies are here in My home
And this is where they'll stay.
They'll wait for you with Me
Until your lesson is through.
And on the day that you come home
They'll be at the gates for you.


So now you see what makes a Mother
It's the feeling in your heart.
It's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start.
Though some on earth may not realize
You are a Mother until their time is done.
They'll be up here with Me one day
And you know you're the best one!

WITH LOVE

~~~For All Our Little Angels~~~

For all our little angels
Gone before they've grown
No one knows the reason why
The angels called you home

I've asked the Lord a million times
Why this should have to be
The angels whispered softly
One day you will see

That doesn't help us now
We're feeling sad and low
We need to understand
Why it is you had to go

But I know we will never get
An answer to this plea
Until we are together
In heaven for eternity

So many of us miss you
So many of us grieve
So many hearts are broken
Because you had to leave

Be happy our little angels
Remember each of us with love
Until one by one we meet again
With you in heaven above.

Take a moment of your day
To maybe sit and in your mind
Think of all the precious babies
Yours, theirs and mine

Those whose short lives were over
Before they had really ever begun
Those precious little bundles
Who have made us all a Mum

Their tiny lives have touched us all
And what I want to say
They have brought us all together
Each and every day

The babies whose beautiful faces
In our minds forever will be
Whose names are etched within our hearts
For anyone, the whole world to see

The babies who touched our lives
Who we think of through our tears
I hope in time we will be able to smile
When we remember them through the years

So this week while we remember
All our babies who had to go
We shall show the world we are united
And how we love and miss them so

It’s been while since last we spoke

A Birthday In Heaven - Author Unknown

I heard you crying yesterday,
And felt your heart-sent love.
So I’m sending you this message
Now, from Heaven up above.

You’re wondering if I’ll celebrate
My birthday (way up here).
I know you’re missing me today
I feel your essence near.

God planned a special day for me,
He told me with a wink.
He’d ordered me a special cake
(It’s Angel food, I think).

Balloons will fill the streets for me,
They float up through the clouds.
And we have lots of friends up here
That make us laugh out loud.

There is a birthday carousel,
Jewelled horses ride the wind,
With music playing, oh so sweet…
The magic never ends.

I’ve made so many friends, you see
We laugh and play and sing.
We ride our bikes and play the fool
And sleep in Angel’s wings.

But we don’t blow out our candles here
Instead, they light the skies.

Without the children there,
Playing hide and seek in pearly mists
Free from every pain and care.

Without their carefree rapture,
Scrambling through the fluffy clouds
Each happy moment to capture

Echoing across Elysian fields
As starbursts they chase after

Undimmed by earths murky shades
Their robes shining bright.

An Angel Never Dies

Don’t let them say I wasn’t born, that something stopped my heart,

I felt each tender squeeze you gave, I loved you from the start.

Although my body you can’t hold, it doesn’t mean I’m gone,

This world was worthy not of me, God chose that I move on,

I know the pain that drowns your soul, what you are forced to face,

You have my word, I’ll fill your arms, someday we will embrace.

You’ll hear that it was “meant to be, God doesn’t make mistakes”

But that won’t soften your worst blow or make your heart not ache.

I’m watching over all you do, another child you’ll bear,

Believe me when I say to you, that I am always there.

There will come a time, I promise you, when you will hold my hand,

Stroke my face and kiss my lips and then you’ll understand.

Although I never breathed your air, or gazed into your eyes,

That doesn’t mean I never “was”…
